Application


APPLICATION FORMALITIES (TO BE READ THOROUGHLY)

If you still have questions after reading the whole procedure below, please check the FAQs before emailing us. There is a strong probability that you will be able to find the answers there.

GENERAL RULES

Rule #1: applications will open on January 1st of each year for the following academic year.
Applications submitted before January 1st will not be examined.

 

Rule #2: applications must be submitted before July 1st of each year for the following academic year.

Applications submitted after June 30th will not be examined.

Exceptions: applying after July 1st for the following academic year require prior authorization from the Master chairs who can decide to accept late applications for exceptional reasons.

To obtain a special authorization to apply after July 1st for the following academic year, please send an email to contact@bme-paris.com explaining your current situation, the reason why you are applying after July 1st and the track you wish to apply for. Attach a CV, a letter of motivation and your bachelor’s or masters’ years. You will receive an email informing you personally whether you are authorized or not to apply online for our master program.

 

Rule #3: Pre-requisites

  • Conditions to apply for the 1st year of our master program (M1): having obtained or being in the process of validating a Licence 3 or a  Bachelor’s degree (science related)
  • Conditions to apply directly for the 2nd year of our master program (M2):
    • For students in science or engineering: having obtained or being in the process of validating a Master 1; having obtained or being in the process of validating a Master’s degree;  being a 3rd year student in an engineering school or being a 2nd year student in a ParisTech engineering school affiliated with the Master BME-Paris program for a double diploma
    • For students in health science (medical, pharmacy or dental schools): being a 3rd year student in the Medicine-Science or Pharmacy-Science program at University Paris Descartes or at l'Ecole de l'Inserm Liliane Bettencourt; being an intern or Doctor of Medicine (MD), Pharmacy (Pharm.D), Dental Surgery (DDS) or Dental Medicine (DMD)

NB. If you apply for the wrong year (M2 instead of M1 or the other way round), the examination of your application will be delayed.

NB. The admission committee reserves the right to propose engineer’s application for a M1 (instead of a M2) after examining their application and according to their background) 

 

Rule #4: INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE EXAMINED.

In order for your application to be COMPLETE, you need to follow the 4 steps described below. Please note that the administrator will NOT check if your application is complete once you sent it, it is your responsibility to send a complete application.

Warning: once you have submitted your application, you cannot go back and modify it (uploaded documents or form), but:

  • If you want to add more documents to your application, email them directly to contact@bme-paris.com.
  • If you realize that you need to submit a second application (in case you made a mistake or forgot something for example and you need to reapply), whether it is the online application form or the documents to be uploaded on the website, you need to inform the administrator by sending an email to contact@bme-paris.com.

If you do not inform the administrator that you submitted another application explaining the reason why (documents or information missing in the 1st application), only the 1st application sent will be kept and therefore taken into account.

 

Rule #5: if your application is complete, it will be examined by the admission committee according to the following dates:

  • If received before February 15th, you will get an answer by March 31st
  • If received before March 15th, you will get an answer by April 15th
  • If received before April 15th, you will get an answer by May 15th
  • If received before May 15th, you will get an answer by June 15th
  • If received before July 1st, you will get an answer by July 15th

Please note that it is in your best interest to apply as early as possible, as some or all tracks may be full after the first rounds of admission.

Foreign students should apply particularly early given the length of procedures to obtain a visa.

During the examination of your application, you may be contacted by some faculty for a phone or skype interview.

 

Rule #6: once your complete application is examined by the admission committee, there are 3 possibilities:

  • Either you will receive an authorization of registration certificate
  • Or you will receive a notification of refusal
  • Or you will receive a notification stating that you are put on the waiting list. In this last case, your application will be examined by the last commission (provided that some positions are still available at that stage in the tracks you have applied for) and the final decision will be sent to you by July 15th at the latest.

NB. Please note that once your application was accepted for the M2 track you chose, you will not be able to change tracks. Make sure you choose the track that really corresponds to your aspirations.

 

4 STEPS FOR A COMPLETE APPLICATION

  • STEP 1: prepare your application -> read thoroughly and fill out the  pre-application form (.doc). It will help you fill out your application online; there are many items to fill out and some writing to do. If you skip this first step, you will have trouble filling out your online application. YOU MUST NOT SEND THIS DOCUMENT THOUGH, it is just here to help you.
  • STEP 2: prepare the documents that MUST be submitted with the application:

Document format accepted: PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, JPG, PNG, XLS, XLSX and GIF

  1. Photocopy of your passport, national ID card if you are a European citizen or French national identity card if you are a French citizen
  2. Curriculum Vitae (2 pages max)
  3. Letter of personal statement
  4. Photocopies of ALL of the latest diplomas that you obtained with the associated transcripts (certified translation in French or English)

NB. If you are currently in the process of validating a diploma, you need to attach the transcripts from ALL semesters already validated. Transcripts from the current semester ONLY can be sent later (as soon as you receive them) at the following email address: contact@bme-paris.com.

  1. 2 letters of recommendation from professors in your university of origin and outside if possible (eg a laboratory you worked at), in scientific or technological fields

As long as we haven’t received the 2 letters of recommendation, your application will NOT be examined.

NB. If your referees wish to send their letter of recommendation CONFIDENTIALLY:

a) Attach a PDF file simply stating the names of your Professors (the file is mandatory for your registration to be validated online)

b) Have them send it to contact@bme-paris.com. Tell them not to forget to mention your name either in the letter or in the subject of their email

  1. Photocopies of the English language certificate(s) that you have passed

NB. If you are currently registered to take an exam which will determine your level of English before July 1st:

a)  Attach a PDF file simply stating the name of the exam/certificate and the date planned for the test

b)  Send the results to contact@bme-paris.com as soon as you receive them

 

NB. No certificate is required for native English speakers or students having completed their undergraduate studies in a program taught entirely in English.
In such case, replace the certificate by a document (PDF file) explaining why you don't need to provide a certificate. Your level of English will be assessed during the Skype interview if your application is selected for an interview.

Please note that your application will not be considered if you do not fill out the online form thoroughly.

TUITION FEES

Tuition fees for the academic year follow French standards for all students:

  • For Master 1 students: ~500€,  which grants health insurance via the French social security
  • For Master 2 students:  ~650€,  which grants health insurance via the French social security and registration to the interdisciplinary seminar

Tuition fees must be paid in person, upon completion of the administrative registration before the kick-off meeting.

VISA MATTERS

European citizens:
European citizens don’t need a visa to come study in France.

Non-European citizens:
It is your responsibility to inquire about and follow the procedures to obtain your visa.

If you are a citizen of a country which require that you register on Campus France, apply on Campus France as well as on our website as soon as possible. Visas can take a while to be issued (you can check here the list of countries which require that you use the online Campus France procedure).

If you are a not a citizen of a country which requires for to apply on the Campus France platform, check the formalities to obtain a visa at the French embassy of your country.

Please note that if you need an original copy of your letter of acceptance for the visa application procedure, we will mail it to you after receiving your request, via an international shipping company (UPS, Fedex or DHL depending on the country). All costs will be at your own expense.

If you send your request for an original acceptance letter early enough, we might be able (if your country allows it) to mail it to you through regular mail. In this case only, it will be free of charge for you.

NB. In any case, you must send your request for an original letter of acceptance before July 15th.
